Lace up your boots, (or skis!) Southampton Airport has recently announced that they will be adding more winter destinations in the run up to the skiing season across europe.
The airport is offering over 15,000 seats to the slopes of Geneva and Sion in Switzerland alone, as well as the many other locations that offer snowy activities such as Chamberly, Lyon and Munich. In an push to transport more holidaymakers, Southampton Airport has added two new airlines, easyJet and Powdair to their current list.
Dave Lees, managing director at Southampton Airport, said “We are delighted to be able to offer the region even more choice for reaching the ski slopes this winter.
“The arrival of easyJet to Geneva and Powdair to Sion in December, in addition to existing services by Flybe to Chambery, will mean that passengers can reach their favourite ski resorts in even less time from their favourite local airport.”
EasyJet will begin their flights to Geneva 3 times a week starting on December 14th, while Powdair will commence their flights to Sion from December 15th, going 4 times a week. In 2016 Southampton Airport were able to offer 8,956 seats to Switzerland. This year they are looking to increase this to 15,310, a 70% increase year-on-year.
